Biscuit Filmworks gives back to employees with Salary Exchange

Biscuit Filmworks is a London based commercial film production company, founded in 2011
by Director Noam Murro and Managing Director Shawn Lacy.

In the past, Giovanni Cinquemani, the company’s Finance Director, had heard of companies
providing Salary Exchange – or Salary Sacrifice – as an employee benefit. Wanting to do
more for the company’s employees and save on pension costs at the same time, he
contacted Husky to implement the Salary Exchange scheme to their workplace pension.
Moore Kingston Smith (was their payroll provider) was kind enough to bring the two companies together.
Husky helped Biscuit Filmworks give back to their employees by implementing Salary
Exchange to their pension scheme. Now, employees get to keep more in their pocket and
the company is saving more…

Also, Biscuit Filmworks needed an expert who could manage their pension administration
and take care of their pension duties. Biscuit Filmworks have peace of mind that their
pension compliance is taken care of and that they now have the time to focus on their
business.

The Challenge

  • Reducing pension costs. They needed a solution to reducing pension management
costs in order to save more for the business and give back more to their employees.
  • Salary Exchange implementation. They needed an expert who could set it up, make
sure that agreements between the employee and the employer were signed and the
calculated pension contributions were accurate. Moreover, Biscuit’s pension scheme
was on Qualifying earnings, which most systems do not support applying Salary
    Exchange to.
  • Pension administration help. They needed Husky to manage their Standard Life
pension scheme for their eleven employees, and be on top of the process for
    compliance reasons.
  • General help as the re-enrolment date was fast approaching. It was the third
anniversary of their duties start date, which meant that they needed to assess their
employees’ pensions and evaluate whether they needed to re-enrol their staff.

‘We found the assistance from Husky throughout the on-boarding process to be
extremely helpful and professional. The easy to use App meant that employees could
fully understand how much they could save using Husky and make adjustments to
their pension contributions very easily.
Setting up each employee using the portal couldn’t be any more easier. I would
highly recommend Husky.’

The Solution

  1. Husky took over the admin management of Standard Life, giving Giovanni peace
of mind that their scheme was taken care of. Now, Husky liaises with Moore Kingston
Smith, Biscuit Filmworks’s payroll administrator, on a monthly basis and calculates
the employees’ pension contributions, updates records and handles all
communications with employees and the pension provider.
  2. Husky handled the company’s re-enrolment duties on time and efficiently. They
assessed the staff’s pension scheme and identified who needed to re-enrol to the
workplace pension scheme. This task ensured that Biscuit Filmworks was compliant
with their upcoming pension duties, avoiding a fine by The Pensions Regulator. Husky completed the Redeclaration of compliance with TPR.
  3. Husky successfully set up a Salary Exchange scheme for Biscuit Filmworks’s
employees, thanks to their automated system in place. Husky’s automatic system
produces the necessary documents and contracts, and ensures that they’ve been
signed by the employer and the employee. At the moment, half of the workers have
it implemented, helping them reduce their NICs and increase their take-home pay.
  4. Husky provided the employees with the Husky for Everyone app. With this app,
employees get the financial control they need as they can be in charge of their
pension contributions as well as have full visibility of their savings, 24/7. Using the H4E app.

Giovanni has now peace of mind that Biscuit Filmworks’ pension scheme is handled
by experts and that the company is compliant at all times. Husky keeps records of all
communications and contributions on their behalf, keeping track of auto-enrolment
obligations and new regulations.

Pension administration is now Husky’s responsibility allowing Giovanni to focus on more
important financial tasks for the company.
With Salary Exchange now as an employee benefit, employee satisfaction has improved.
This agreement helps them keep more in their pockets and save more for their pension.
It also helps the company itself increase their business savings too. Biscuit Filmworks is now
saving annually by implementing Salary Sacrifice to their workplace pension.
